The diary describes a voyage around the Western Australian coast to Darwin, and then on to England. The Aboriginal people at Legrange Bay are described in the entries for July 1884, on pages 22-27. Administrative / Biographical history

The 'Cushie Doo' was owned by William Henry Seville Osmand who was a part owner of Ord River Station in Western Australia. Osmand was the first person to take a steamer up Cambridge gulf and to take soundings. He was born in 1824 and died at his home in Stawell, Victoria, in 1901. Joseph Panton was also on the voyage.
