Administrative / Biographical history

George Barnes Makin Coy was convicted of the theft of plateware and other articles from the home of Henry Hunt in Staffordshire, England, in 1823. He was sentenced to death but the sentence was commuted to transportation, and he arrived in Sydney on board the ship Mangles in 1824.
