The album is bound in black leather tooled in blind and gold. There are 26 ff. in the volume. One sketch (f.14) has an unfinished sketch of three men sitting at a table on the reverse. Thomas Bock, portrait painter, engraver and photographer was born in England in 1790. He arrived in Hobart in 1824 as a convict having been sentenced to 14 years transportation for 'administering drugs to procure an abortion'.
