Senia Shostiakoff was born Semon Holostiakov in Orel, Russia, ca. 1900. His father was a colonel and by the age of 14 he was fighting the Germans in the Great War. He later became part of the Don Cossack Choir of White Russians when they were formed in one of the allied camps at Gallipoli in 1922. On the way to perform with the Choir in western Eur...
