Notes

General note

The ambrotype, being the original camera negative, is laterally inverted (or back-to-front), so that Eliza's wedding ring appears on her right hand -- Curator of Photographs, State Library of NSW, 2004.
An almost identical ambrotype portrait of Eliza Morisset, taken at the same sitting, is available at Location Number: MIN 139 Mitchell Library.
