Administrative / Biographical history
Alfred Henry Pettifer was born 15 July 1895 in Redfern. He returned from World War I a lieutenant and married Viva McCarthy (1896-1981) in Goulburn in 1922. He was Acting NSW Government Printer (ca. 1939-1945) and NSW Government Printer (ca. 1945-1959). He died 14 May 1962 in Five Dock. -- Sources: U.Crosthwaite, daughter; Australian War Memorial
