Research related to employment decision making and the handicapped is reviewed, and factors influencing interviewer decisions are seen to include qualifications, negative information, elapsed time, age, and nonverbal behavior. Five suggestions for teaching interviewing skills to mentally retarded persons are offered. (CL)
