The National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research (NIWA) and the Christchurch City Council have developed a system of converting sewage into renewable petrol, diesel, jet fuel and fertiliser. This new system will help improve wastewater treatment while reducing its cost and energy and also make renewable fuels.
