Christchurch's new $87.2-million sewerage outfall is New Zealand's longest ocean outfall and involved the longest micro tunnelling drive ever completed in Australasia. It was a difficult project, dogged by bad weather, turbulent seas, injuries to at least ten people and the deaths of two pipeline workers, who died in an October 2008 storm.
