In an article on this subject in the "South African Mining and Engineering Journal Year Book," Dr. Perry Wagner points out that Southern Africa account ordinarily for fully 95 per cent. of the world's output of diamonds. Productions since 1867, when the first find was made, amounts roughly to 38 short tons, valued at well over 200,000,000.
