Jonathan Monkhouse served with the navy in the West Indies before joining the Endeavour as a midshipman on 21 August 1768. His brother William Brougham Monkhouse was the ship's surgeon. When Endeavour was damaged on the Great Barrier Reef, Monkhouse took charge of fothering the hull. Monkhouse died of malaria in February 1771 after the ship left B...
