Thomas Agar Newall, a painter, illustrator, journalist, and publican, arrived in Sydney in 1841. In December 1841 his animal paintings were favourably reviewed in The Sydney Gazette and New South Wales Advertiser which recommended inspection of his studio in Bridge Street. Newall quickly built up a reputation as a painter of animals and game. He...
