Ivan Victor Young enlisted aged 23, as a reinforcement in the AIF, in Sydney on November 11, 1916. He was a Private (no. 2486) in the 1st Pioneer Battalion. He enlisted together with his older brother, Walter Gilmour, Private (no. 2487). Ivan spent 1917 training in Sutton Veny in England and saw action in France at the start of 1918. He returned to...
