Dr John Racek was a pioneer of the prawn farming industry. In 1950 he migrated to Australia with his wife Anne from Czechoslovakia. In 1953 he obtained a position as a marine biologist in the Fisheries Branch of the N.S.W. Chief Secretary's Department. He was responsible for researching the biology and ecology of penacid prawns from Princess Charlo...
