Administrative / Biographical history
Berrima Gaol was constructed using convict labour, commencing in 1834 and completed in 1839. During the convict era the governors of the gaol lived within the gaol walls in three rooms on either side of the inside entrance. A residence was later built for the governor outside the gaol in 1898.
