Administrative / Biographical history
The Corps of Commissionaires was founded in Sydney in 1939 to provide employment for ex-servicemen. It was modelled on the Corps in London which has operated since 1859. The Sydney office closed in 1974 when membership had dwindled from 500 to 80.
