Administrative / Biographical history
Military officer, roadmaker and builder William Cox (1764-1837) is best known for his supervision of the building of the road across the Blue Mountains in 1814. He went on to become a successful pastoralist, and a significant land owner in the colony, based at Clarendon, Windsor. He married his second wife, Anna Blachford in 1821.
