The uncoloured version of this plate (Caddell & Davies, 29 June 1802) is believed to have been based on a drawing by Thomas Watling (1762–1806). Then the only competent artist in the colony, the original drawing is likely to have been executed during the period of Watling’s assignment to Judge Advocate David Collins (1756–1810), and taken back to E...
