Administrative / Biographical history

Henry Ernest Gissing, a chemist, of Ashfield, N.S.W., was born in Rockdale, N.S.W. He enlisted aged 26 years, 14 Dec. 1914 and served with the 1st Field Ambulance, Australian Army Medical Corps, Jan. 1915-Mar. 1916, when he was transferred to the 14th Field Ambulance. He was promoted to Corporal 31 May 1916 and Sergeant 18 June 1916
