John Haydon Cardew (ca. 1884-1941), civil engineer and surveyor, was the second son of the Reverend John Haydon Cardew of Wingfield, Wiltshire, England, and came to Australia on the R.M.S. Renown. The Cardew family is connected by marriage to the Steel Family of Rockley, N.S.W.
