Administrative / Biographical history
Established as the Sydney Foundling Hospital in 1874 by Emily Trollope, the name was changed to the Infants' Home in 1877. It became responsible for the care of infants of unmarried mothers and of destitute parents, as well as providing a temporary home for the mothers
