Objects - 3.5 cm. diameter at widest point; 8 cm. long folded; 18 cm. long extended - 1 brass pocket telescope

Objects - 26 cm. long folded; 63 cm. long extended - loose lens - 1 brass naval telescope with mahogany casing

Objects - 25 x 25 cm. - 1 square linen handkerchief

Objects - 5 cm. high - broken - 4 pieces (incomplete) - 1 china teacup

Objects - 5 cm. high - 1 glass inkwell with metal rim

Objects - 20 cm. x 13 cm. x 7 cm. - mirror loose & 3 of the 4 feet are missing from the base, as is the key for the front lock, which is broken; crank key missing from base - 1 wooden music box with mirror inlaid into hinged lid and carry handle

John Piper, military officer and public servant, was born in 1773 in Scotland. He arrived in Sydney in 1792 to serve as an ensign in the New South Wales Corps before transferring to Norfolk Island (1793-1795).
