Papers in the volume come from various sources. Papers of Archdeacon Greenway were presented by Miss Maclellan in 1919; copies of F.H. Greenway letters at the back of the volume were acquired from Angus & Robertson in 1933; other documents were acquired from several sources in the 1920s.

Administrative / Biographical history

Francis Greenway (1777-1837) was an architect in Bristol when he was found guilty of forgery. He was transported to New South Wales, arriving in Sydney in 1814. He took on commissions as an architect, and soon attracted the patronage of Governor Lachlan Macquarie who appointed him Civil Architect in 1816. Greenway designed many significant building...
