Donald Horne (1921-2005), author, editor and academic, was born in Sydney. He began a career in journalism with the Sydney Daily Telegraph in 1945. In 1958 he became founding editor of the Observer, and served two terms as editor with the Bulletin, 1961-1962, 1967-1972.
