Administrative / Biographical history

Before Warragamba Dam was built, the Burragorang Valley, located on the Wollondilly River and surrounded by high cliffs, was a rich farming area and popular tourist destination. In the 1940s, the valley was earmarked as the site for a new dam and in the 1950s the Sydney Water Board began buying up properties and resuming land for the catchment area...
