Administrative / Biographical history

Houlton Harries Voss was born in Swansea, South Wales in 1828. He is listed in the 1851 United Kingdom Census Returns as a lodger of John Gulland (Engineer - erector), at 10 Green Lane, on the western edge of James Nasymth's Bridgewater factory in Manchester. Voss is described in the Census as a "Mechanical Engineer" and it is likely that he was an...
