First edition of 'Australian Life' by Francis Adams (London: Chapman and Hall Ltd, 1892). It is inscribed on the title page with the author's name and address and contains numerous annotations and corrections by him. On the inside front cover is a pencil note: 'Some final corrections Egypt 1893'.

Francis Adams (1862-1893) came to Australia from England in 1884 suffering from tuberculosis. During the 1880s he contributed poems, short stories and critical articles to the Bulletin.
