William Wood was born in Peterhead, Scotland in 1882. He studied medicine at Aberdeen and Dublin. After appointments at various hospitals in Britain and South Africa, and a voyage to India in 1905 as ship's surgeon on the Arabic, he settled in Australia in 1912. He set up practice in northern NSW, in Bellingen and then Coffs Harbour. During WWI...
