Administrative / Biographical history
Mr George Hill (1802-1883) was a butcher, alderman and sporting patron. He was born at Parramatta, the son of transported convicts: William Hill and Mary Johnson. Like many of the ‘native born’, Hill proved to be a successful business man, despite receiving little formal education. He owned his own slaughterhouse and also three inns in Pitt Street....
