Lieutenant-Colonel William Cosmo Trevor commanded the 2nd Battalion 14th Regiment in the New Zealand War of 1864-66. In October 1866 the head-quarters of the 2nd battalion, under Lieutenant-Colonel Trevor, embarked for Melbourne. Three companies embarked for Hobart and two companies to Adelaide.
