Private William Gordon Bowler, a railway employee of Woolloomolloo, N.S.W. enlisted at Liverpool, 4 Apr. 1916 and embarked from Melbourne, Vic., on board HMAT A9 Shropshire, 11 May 1917. He served with the 1st Australian Field Ambulance, 1st Australian Division of the A.I.F., France and returned to Australia on the Wiltshire, 4 July 1919
