Administrative / Biographical history
John Piper, 1773-1851, arrived in Sydney in 1792 with the New South Wales Corps. He was on duty on Norfolk Island 1793-1795 and 1804-1810, and from 1811-1813 on leave in England. He returned to Sydney February 1814 where he married in 1816. In 1826 he retired with his family to his Bathurst property Alloway Bank
