Ewing Pye Colquhoun was a director and the colonial superintendent of the British Australian Gold Mining Company. He came to Australia in 1852 on the Asiatic and returned to England some time before 1861. His company explored the ‘Royal Vein’ goldmine and he assayed and bought gold near Bathurst.
