Administrative / Biographical history
Major George Alexander Gordon of the 73rd Regiment arrived in Sydney in 1810, where he was despatched by Governor Macquarie to Port Dalrymple as Commandant. In 1812 the office was abolished and Gorden recalled to his regiment. He left Sydney for Ceylon with a detachment of his regiment in 1814.
