These are fully captioned photographs which detail the work of the staff at the 8th Field Ambulance in France and Belgium. They illustrate the treatments given to injured soldiers and the conditions of the dressing stations at Wijtschacte Ridge, Templeux-le-Guerard for Hindenburg line, Menin Rd at Ypres and the Red Chateau of Villers-Bretonneux.

Administrative / Biographical history

The 8th Field Ambulance was formed in Egypt after the Gallipoli campaign. It was sent to the Western Front, assigned to the 8th Brigade, 5th Division, AIF.
