Halim El-Dabh, composer, was born in Cairo on 4 March, 1921, From 1941-1944 he studied piano and Western music at the Sulcz Cons. in Cairo. On a Fulbright scholarship he went to the USA in 1950 where he studied composition with Aaron Copland and Irving Fine at the Berkshire Music Centre at Tanglewood.
