Administrative / Biographical history
James Ivory, 1820-1887, pastoralist and diarist, was born in Scotland. In 1840 he arrived in Sydney and in 1843 he obtained a squatting licence for land at Eskdale, near Ipswich, Queensland. He prospered and acquired further property in Queensland. He experimented with pastures and grew sugar cane and other tropical crops.
