The Sobraon Occasional was a newspaper issued on board ship during the outward voyage to Melbourne from 7 October to 26 December 1875. It was produced in a small number of manuscript copies which were circulated to pasengers. When the ship reached Melbourne in late 1875 copies were printed as souvenirs. Administrative / Biographical history
The Sobraon was built in 1866 and gained a reputation as the fastest passenger sailing ship on the London-Australia route. She was bought by the NSW government in 1891 and anchored in Sydney Harbour as a school ship for delinquent boys.
