Administrative / Biographical history
Thomas Bock was transported to Van Diemen's Land in 1823 and was granted a full pardon in 1833. He operated a gallery in Hobart and was the first portrait painter to practice professionally in Tasmania. As well as painting portraits of many well-known residents of Hobart he also did a series of studies of aborigines for Lady Franklin. These portrai...
