Letters to Sir Edward Macarthur concerning emigration from Great Britain and Germany. Authors include John Benett, William Churchill, C. Ebenau, Sir Charles Fitzroy, John and James Giblett, Clements Lister, Lachlan Macalister, James and William Macarthur, Donald Macpherson, H. Schutze, Rev John West.

Also include letters from Sir Edward Macarthur to Buckles & Co, William Churchill, Bishop of Exeter, Henry Labouchere, James and William Macarthur, Lord Monteagle, Lord Normanby, Rev J. West.

Other documents include memo of stores and passage money of emigrants on vessel Brothers; draft of agreements with German vignerons; statement of money deposited with EM by J. B. Beckhaus; notes on emigration.

Subjects include land policy; labour supply; employment agreements; regulations in respect of age limitation affecting the importation of farm labourers; disallowance of bounties on emigrants; emigration from Scottish Highlands; emigration of vine-dressers from Rheingau, Germany, and New Zealand; Merino sheep sent to NSW in charge of emigrant shepherds; address to Lord Glenelg by landowners, merchants and others interested in the welfare of New South Wales; reply from Sir Charles Fitzroy to petition for renewal of immigration to NSW.
